Description
Front brake pads are fairly easy to do on an NV200. Mine is a 2013 US model. The tools required are:
–21mm socket for lug nuts
–14mm socket for brake caliper
–19mm socket for caliper holding bracket
Jack up vehicle, remove wheel, remove brake caliper, remove caliper bracket, remove rotor.
I purchased the OEM quality pads for about 100 dollars and also got the optional accessories clips for 18 dollars. Rotors still looked good on mine so I just cleaned them up with 220 grit emory cloth and reused.
Be careful when removing pads so you get the replacement little clips in the right spot…easy to get confused and forget how they go on. Caliper piston will be extended to far outward when you install your new pads so you need to push it back by placing 2 screwdriver handles as depicted. Don’t push piston inward any further than absolutely necessary or you might push brake oil out of the reservoir all over your engine. First loosen filler cap on reservoir if you have a lot of piston travel to push inward. ie: if you have very worn pads.
There were 2 wire clips inside the new pads box…I don’t really know what they were supposed to be used for. I’ve seen these types of clips before when installing brushes in electric motors. They are usually just used to assist in installing the items and are not a permanent fixture. Maybe someone can comment here and let everyone know.
