Description

This is a simple on/off switch for a Raspberry Pi or Arduino. I wrecked an Arduino board by unplugging the power cord too many times, so I put a simple switch in-line near the small end of the USB power cord so I can power it down without pulling out the plug.

Or you can buy one on Ebay instead, but I didn’t like them.

Unfortunately, the Ebay cords only have short cords… not a full length long cord so I had to make this one.

Anyway, just skin back the Raspberry pi power cord jacket and cut the RED wire only… don’t cut the BLACK wire (like I did) or you’ll have to splice it back together. After that just solder in any on/off switch to the two RED wire ends and wrap it back up. If the green and white (data) wires had foil on them, it is a good idea to re-wrap them with aluminum-foil, and make sure the foil ends touch the ends of the cut foil so you have a good ground connection.
